First let us define WOKE. In the 1828 Webster’s dictionary is to “be awake.” Definition in the Black community became a slang to mean that “someone is informed, educated and conscious of social injustice and racial inequality.” In both of those definitions, I believe Jesus would be WOKE.
Jesus challenged injustice, stood for the poor, the oppressed, healed all who would believe, took care of the vulnerable, urged reconciliation and said “do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” (Luke 6:31) He also said “repent and sin no more.” He, however, will not agree with anything which is contrary to His Word. So, again, yes He would be WOKE in these situations.
However, there is far too much emphasis on the race, culture and opinions of individual persons turning the word WOKE into a political divisive agenda. So is Jesus Woke in that sense? Let’s see what the Word of God teaches.
Racism has been since the beginning, even with Cain and Able. One of the indicators of the latter days is racism will increase. (MATTHEW 24:7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.) The Greek meaning of nation is ethnic group, tribe.
To try to legislate an end to racism or division is not possible but actually brings more division. Why is it not possible? Because it is already revealed from the Word of God
as one of the signs of the time of His return.
The word WOKE, has been politicized, misused and twisted into people who are trying to cause division and destruction to this nation. When you unwrap the agenda behind it, it is a communistic ideology. Communism propaganda is that everyone should have equality in every area, including financial. Sounds good. However, when you dig it out and you look at some of the main communistic nations such as North Korea and China, the higher ups have all the money, position, authority where the people are being abused in over work, getting little and being overrun by this ideology. This is the reason of the Tiananmen Square uprising. You see what the communistic party did to their own people.
The WOKE agenda has spread a broad brush saying that white people consider themselves privileged, thus thinking themselves better than others. It has become a political issue. Businesses have had “reeducation” meetings for employees to make sure that as a Caucasian, to acknowledge you are not privileged and change your wrong attitudes and actions. News comes that many are told to apologize for their color and persons. People never should be ashamed nor need to apologize for who they are because they truly had no choice in their birth. To indicate otherwise is to ignore there is a Creator. This is of course brought about by the teaching in the schools that evolution is how mankind came into existence.
Who are the “they” that are rocking this nation with such confused, ignorance in their thinking? They are ignorant, uninformed as expressing in the nature of satan. Their voices are loud because many businesses, schools, institution are buying into and trying to force all of society to agree. It would be one thing if these who are buying into it were really concerned with people. Truth behind it is “follow the money”. Business like Disney, Target, Pepsi Co, Mars, The Hershey Co, etc. adopt the so-called agenda, but, to their surprise, their finances dropped in some cases. Everyone is not buying the stupidity, knowing they are who they were born into. Male and Female. Black, while, brown, red, yellow. Fearfully and wonderfully made according to the Bible!! (Psalm 139:14)
For Jesus to be WOKE in the twisted political use of the word, He would have to deny Himself because He would have to say His creation is imperfect and apologize for it. 2Timothy 2:13 stated “If we do not believe Him, yet, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.” Jesus said you are fearfully and wonderfully made. When He created man, He looked and remarked “very good”. He cannot deny that, and He is not ashamed of you or who He created you to be
Jesus came, lived and died, rose from the dead for the sins of the world. It is His will that all come to Him for eternal life. However, He gives us a choice. All mankind will not be saved. Only those who receive Him. (JOHN 1:12 But as many as received Him, He gave to them authority to become the children of God, to those who believe on His name). He truly loves all of His creation, but He also said to repent. The need to repent and change our attitudes especially in the Body of Christ is a must. Racism and prejudice are not to be tolerated nor to condemn people. However, we do not condone sin. We do not agree with it and we resist it in the Name of Jesus. The wages of sin according to scripture is still death (Romans 6:23)
NO, Jesus is not WOKE in the political sense that has invaded and twisted minds and caused division in our nation, but He is totally against division, arrogance or respect of persons. However, He does distinguish between good and evil. He says for those who are His to come out from among the evil and to be separate. His Word declares that believers and unbelievers are not compatible. He made you in His image and loves you as you are. Your color, race, education, social position, financial position does not change His mind on who you are. He finds no fault in you. He wants to help you, to save you, to provide for you, but regardless if you choose to allow Him to do so, does not affect His love for you. He says,
“Come to Me all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke on you and learn of Me, for I am meek and lowly in heart, and you shall find rest to your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.” (MATTHEW 11:28-30)
He is the Judge of the universe. Let Him change our hearts and minds into loving as He loves, hating what He hates as we live our lives as individuals, letting Him show us who we are as His children and pray for all mankind that they come to know Him. Let us not have racism in our thinking and be happy with who we are and what He has created us to be. Do as He said, “Judge not and you may not be judged.” (MATTHEW 7:1) However, let us withdraw from the evil agendas, the corrupt thinking of those who are pushing this ideology.
If you do not know Him, invite Him in and let Him show you how to live. There is soon to be a great division removing the evil and bringing in good. Until that time, let us be WOKE in our attitudes, not considering ourselves above others, but do not need to apologize who we are, but to remove ourselves from the evil that is working in our world. To remove ourselves is to walk in the ways of the Bible, loving what He loves and hating what He hates.
