THE TRINITY
The Trinity is a term that is not used in the Bible. Yet, the Trinity is taught in the Bible. It is that God exists in three distinct persons the Father, the Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. All three are in essence the same but in expression, different. This concept is not so difficult when you consider how H20 (water) exists in three forms: liquid water, solid ice, and vapor-air. Man also is a triune being: the spirit or heart is the inner being, the soul is the mind, will and emotions, and the flesh being the body.
God is a Spirit and His Truth is not understood by the natural man. Ask God to open your eyes to these truths:
1 Corinthians 2:14 -“But the natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of God; for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” “Whom do men say that I, the Son of man, am?” (Matt 16:13) Jesus asked this of His disciples. Now you look into the scriptures and answer, “Who is Jesus”?
GOD THE FATHER
God the Father does not seem to be an issue with various religions. The stumbling block is Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. Therefore, the following Biblical information concerns where they fit and are they God?
THE DEITY OF JESUS
1. HE IS THE ALMIGHTY GOD:
Isaiah 9:6 “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder; and His Name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
2. HE IS ETERNAL:
Hebrews 1:8 “But unto the Son He said, Thy throne, O God, is forever and ever a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Thy kingdom.”
3. HE IS THE CREATOR:
John 1:3 “All things were made by Him; and without Him was not anything made that was made.”
4. BOTH FATHER AND JESUS FORGIVE SINS
Psalms 103:2-5 “Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities; who heals all your diseases; Who redeems your life from destruction; who crowns you with loving-kindness and tender mercies: Who satisfies your mouth with good things; so that, your youth is renewed like the eagle's.
Mark 2:7-11 (RSV) "Why does this man speak thus? It is blasphemy! Who can forgive sins but God alone?" And immediately Jesus, perceiving in His spirit that they thus questioned within themselves, said to them, "Why do you question thus in your hearts? Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Rise, take up your pallet and walk'? But that you may know that the Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins"--He said to the paralytic-- "I say to you, rise, take up your pallet and go home."
5. JESUS SAID HE WAS EQUAL WITH GOD
John 10:30 “I and my Father are one.”
John 14:8-11 "Philip said to Him, Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us. Jesus said to him, have I been with you such a long time and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father. And how do you say, Show us the Father? Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father in Me? The Words that I speak to you I do not speak of Myself, but the Father who dwells in Me, He does the works. Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the very works themselves. "
6. GOD THE FATHER IS THE COMFORTER:
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 “Grace be you and peace from God our Father, and from, the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.”
GOD THE FATHER IS THE COMFORTER:
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 “Grace be you and peace from God our Father, and from, the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.”
GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT IS THE COMFORTER
John 16:7 "Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send Him unto you. (vs 13) Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will shew you things to come."
GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT
HOLY SPIRIT IS GOD, EQUAL TO THE FATHER AND THE SON...THUS THE TRINITY
Acts 5:3-4 "But Peter said, Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? While it remained, was it not your own? and after it was sold, was it not in your own power? why have you conceived this thing in your heart? you have not lied unto men, but unto God. "
If Jesus is therefore, God Almighty, we need to do what He says for it is the path to eternal life. We must accept Him and what He has done for us. He died in our sins, went to hell to pay the penalty for sin for us, and then was raised for us to give us eternal life. (For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God; not by works, lest any should boast.) Eph 2:8-9 If you want to receive Him, simply pray this prayer:
“Heavenly Father, I believe you sent Jesus to die for my sins, so that I may have eternal life. I believe you raised Him from the dead and according to your Word, I ask you Jesus, to come into my heart and be my Lord. In Jesus’ Name. Amen” (ROM 10:6-10)
